Step into the exciting world of Raku, a 16th-century Japanese pottery tradition known for its dramatic firing process and stunning, unpredictable surface effects. In this two-part class, students will create two unique ceramic pieces during the first session, specially designed for raku firing. The second session brings the magic to life as students glaze their work, load the kiln, witness the firing process, and take part in post-firing reduction and cooling. Each firing reveals one-of-a-kind results, and students will leave the second day with finished pieces ready to take home and treasure.
