Celebrate the charm of the old-style river buoys—those iconic markers that lined the Clayton Riverwalk each winter—before they were replaced by the modern, year-round models. These buoys, full of character, hold a special place in the hearts of local “River Rats,” and this beginner-friendly workshop offers a creative way to honor them. In this class, students will paint their own 9” x 12” canvas panel, using acrylics (or oils), capturing the buoys against a beautiful sunset—a gentle allegory of saying goodbye to the day and the old buoys. You’ll learn how to properly prepare your canvas panel, plan your composition, and apply painting techniques to bring your scene to life. All materials are provided—just bring a box or portfolio to carry home your finished masterpiece! By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a personal keepsake celebrating both the river and its cherished history.
